AbuseTrack started with a very practical problem: every day, new IP addresses scan networks, brute-force SSH logins, distribute malware and take part in DDoS attacks. If you run servers or defend systems, you see this kind of activity in your logs all the time. On your own, it is hard to tell quickly which IPs are worth blocking and which ones others are already seeing.
A lot of useful abuse data is either locked behind expensive products or spread across separate lists and tools. AbuseTrack is meant to close that gap. IP reports from people, servers and automated sensors are collected in one place and made publicly usable. Over time, that creates a shared picture of which network infrastructure is causing trouble online.
AbuseTrack deliberately focuses on one thing and does it well: IP addresses, both IPv4 and IPv6. Every reported IP gets a public reputation page with WHOIS attribution, GeoIP data, reverse DNS and the full report history. The data is available through the website, a free API and a simple blocklist feed, so it can be used in firewall setups or together with tools like fail2ban, CrowdSec and UniFi.
Privacy matters here. AbuseTrack tracks abusive infrastructure, not the people who submit reports. Personal data is protected, and the platform stores no personal indicators - only IP addresses of attacking infrastructure. The project is operated in Europe and is built with that privacy-first approach from the start.
AbuseTrack is built and operated by Michael Ortner. The goal is an independent, open service that stays free for the community. Every report helps others spot attacks earlier and make better decisions.
